Postcards by the Pound! Mixed lot of over 800 unmarked, unposted postcards, amassed from over 80 years of family vacations and travels. I counted 787 loose, regular-sized postcards, plus 67 large/odd-sized postcards and 13 postcard packets each containing 10 or 12 postcards. Most are color photos from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s; probably a quarter of them are from earlier or later, 1920s and 30s – 1980s, 90s. Most are from vacation destinations in the United States: long-gone motels, local restaurants, roadside tourist attractions and scenic wonders in California, Ohio, Oregon, Michigan, Virginia, Florida, New York, Arizona, Utah and Nevada. Cities depicted include New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Key West, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Denver, Washington DC, Chicago, Toronto, Honolulu. Nearly all 50 states are represented. Includes: The 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair and the 1986 Vancouver Expo; Old and new Las Vegas hotel/casinos; Cards from most of the provinces of Canada; One card covered in embossed copper (from the Bingham copper mine in Utah); Linen cards from the 1940s and 1950s; Cards depicting US aircraft carriers and battleships; A few cards from Europe and Mexico. Cards from Disneyland and Disney World. One card has a tiny salt packet attached. The cards come in all different sizes. Most are standard postcard sizes: 4″x5.5″, 4″x6″, 3.5″x5.5″, etc. The odd ones are either larger – 8″x10″ – or longer – 4″x8″, for example. There are a fair number of duplicate cards included also. A rough guess would be 5%. All cards are in at least good condition, with the majority in excellent condition. A handful have a crease, tear or pinhole. I MAKE NO CLAIMS OR PROMISES REGARDING WHAT YOU WILL FIND IN HERE. They have not been sorted in any way, and I do not have time to catalog them or list them individually.
